What bisexual means
Bisexual people are attracted to men and women, or more broadly: to more than one gender. How strong that attraction is per gender differs from person to person, and can shift over time.
Bisexuality isn't a transitional phase or a halfway choice between straight and gay. It's its own, full orientation, just as varied as other forms of attraction.
Within The Pineapple Club, bisexuality is one of many orientations you'll find among members. Our code of conduct states that every member, regardless of orientation, is treated with respect.
Bisexual, bi+ and related terms
Bi+ is the umbrella term for anyone attracted to more than one gender, and bisexual is the most common expression of that. There's no fixed ratio you need to be attracted to different genders in to earn the label.
The attraction doesn't have to be split evenly to count, and it can shift as you get to know yourself better. Still unsure about a label, or would you rather not use one at all? That's just as fine. Words exist to make it easier to explain yourself, not to box you in. At The Pineapple Club, we never ask for a fixed label, only for openness about who you're bringing along and what you're looking for.
For example
Think of someone who's mostly attracted to women but occasionally to men too, or someone for whom the attraction to both feels equal. Both are bisexual, even though the attraction looks different.
Note: for the official Dutch LGBTQ+ terminology this definition follows, see the COC Netherlands glossary (Dutch).
Wherever you land on the spectrum
Within The Pineapple Club, who you’re attracted to is never a checkbox. Come as you are.
