Why consent isn't a one-time conversation
Consent is clear, voluntary and ongoing agreement before and during anything sexual or intimate. It's the foundation every encounter within the lifestyle world rests on. Without consent, there's no room for whatever happens, however small or big.
Consent isn't saying "yes" once at the door and then it's settled. It's an ongoing conversation: you can shift your boundary at any moment, including back again. A "yes" from an hour ago isn't automatically a "yes" for now. That's exactly why check-ins during an evening are so valuable, a quick "still doing okay?" costs nothing and prevents a lot.
Consent in practice
At The Pineapple Club, consent is the foundation of every event: no one has to join in, everyone sets their own pace. Our hosts watch over the atmosphere and step in the moment someone doesn't respect another person's boundaries. Also read our full code of conduct for how we translate this into concrete agreements during events.
Good consent communication comes down to three things: asking instead of assuming, giving room for a "no" without explanation, and actively checking whether something still feels good. That sounds formal, but in practice it usually flows very naturally.
For example
Think of a brief glance, a simple question, a moment of checking in between two people who both want it to feel good for the other person too. Research on sexual consent communication within psychology explains why explicit, ongoing agreement plays such a large role in healthy sexual encounters, see for example Frontiers in Psychology. Sense.info goes deeper into how to recognise and communicate your own boundary. Not sure during an evening whether something is still okay, for yourself or for someone else? Talk to a host. That's what they're there for, at any point in the evening.

Consent is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time agreement. Within The Pineapple Club you can ask questions and share experiences about this, online and during our meetups, with respect for everyone's boundaries.
